It is demonstrated experimentally that since ozone and/or its decomposition products can both produce and destroy H2O2 in aqueous solution, techniques employing aqueous traps for the measurement of H2O2 in air are subject to large interferences from O3-H2O2 reactions. It is shown that H2O2 levels in the traps reach a plateau with continuous bubbling, indicating that a state of dynamic equilibrium involving H2O2 destruction was established. The ozone decomposition products implicated in the process are OH and O3(-).
