A homogeneous sample of nearby Seyfert and normal galaxies with similar linear sizes is presented. The distributions of morphological types and apparent axial ratios in the subsample of Seyferts are similar to those of the subsample of normal galaxies. All of the objects of the sample have Johnson UBV measurements making it possible to determine the photometric properties of galaxies surrounding the nuclear region (i.e., host galaxies).
