Integral, ESA's gamma-ray observatory mission was launched from Baikonur cosmodrome by a Proton rocket on 17 October 2002. A few days later, using its own fuel, Integral was placed into into operational 72 hour orbit. Since then the spacecraft and instruments have been commissioned and the first observations made. During the Performance Verification Phase these included observations of the Cygnus region and blank fields. Early results indicate that the instruments are working well with scientific performances close to those predicted prior to launch. In this talk I will present some of the first results from Integral and discuss the future observation programme.
