The INTEGRAL mission objectives are gamma-ray astronomy (15 keV→10
MeV) using high resolution spectroscopy and positioning of celestial
gamma-ray sources. Concurrent monitoring in X-ray and optical bands. The
phase A study was performed in 1992 within the framework of an
international collaboration between ESA, NASA and Russia.
