In the present paper, the spherically symmetric problem of the adiabatic motion of a gravitating perfect gas in the presence of a shock wave, generated by a localized explosion or nonuniform gravitational collapse, is analyzed within the framework of Newtonian mechanics. A system of integrodifferential inequalities which yield the law of shock-wave motion from the given initial state of the gas is derived
