Results are given of observations of 13 S stars in Stephenson's catalog
(1976) in the range 0.98-2.39 microns. Observations were made with a
2.6-m reflecting telescope using a PbS detector cooled by carbon
dioxide. An infrared excess at 1.75 microns is found for some of the
stars, and absorption at 2.39 microns is found for all of them.
