Multiaperture photometry at 1 to 5 microns was obtained during 12 nights in the preperihelion phase of Halley's comet and during 4 nights in the postperihelion phase. In addition, 10 and 20 micron photometry was obtained on 3 November, when the comet was at 1.88 AU from the Sun. An analysis of JHK data indicates that Halley is typically redder than the Sun ((J-H)=0.54, (H-K)=0.17) and variable. Except for 4 November and 21 March, the multiaperture data is consistent with r to the minus 2 density distribution of scattering dust in the coma. The 10 micron silicate feature in emission is detected on 3 Nov. but the 8 to 20 micron energy distribution of the comet on that day cannot be fitted by dust at a single temperature if silicate dust is assumed.
