The optical and FIR luminosities and other FIR properties are investigated for pairs of galaxies selected from the Catalog of Isolated Pairs of Galaxies in the Northern Sky. Significant evidence is found for an enhancement in both the optical and FIR emission from galaxies in pairs which can be attributed to interaction-induced star formation activity. The enhancement is seen in the optical luminosity function for all types of pairs, including early-type binaries. At FIR wavelengths, both late-type and mixed morphology pairs show an enhancement in luminosity, FIR-to-optical luminosity ratio, and FIR 60/100 micron color ratio. A significant fraction of these pairs may be involved in direct collisions resulting in the stimulation of excess emission from both pair components.
