An overview of the interstellar infrared absorption features is given. The laboratory investigations performed in order to interpret interstellar spectra are considered. The work is focused on the applications of the laboratory work to Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). The infrared spectrum of W33A is presented together with the earlier observations and identifications of grain mantle components. The infrared bands predicted from laboratory research are given. The observations of the diffuse medium in the line of sight towards the Galactic Center is included.
