An IR study is conducted for models of the Saturn rings that are based on the classical multilayer assumption. It is noted that while a homogeneous multilayer model is incompatible with observed A and B ring IR brightness variations, it may be fitted to the C ring. An inhomogeneous multilayer model with dark particles within a bright haze of small, icy particles is found to explain all three rings' observed brightness data, although each ring must contain a different amount of bright haze particles, and their concentrations depend on whether dark particles emit radiation from one hemisphere predominantly.
