Infrared (1.25-4.8 micron) observations at various orbital phases of the single line spectroscopic binary V 861 Sco are presented. Emission in excess over the photospheric continuum of the primary is found and interpreted as due to a strong stellar wind (M equals 0.000002 solar mass/yr). Modulation of the color excess with orbital phase is discussed. X-ray data obtained within a month from the infrared observations yield a 3 sigma upper limit F(0.4-4.5 keV) not greater than 3 x 10 to the -12th erg/sq cm-s.
