A total of 50 spiral galaxies that were detected at low galactic latitudes at 21cm using the Arecibo Observatory 305m telescope were used to compare their POSS II images with their 2MASS images. These galaxies were studied in order to find a criterion to classify morphologically infrared images of galaxies and compare them with their optical counterparts. The images were processed using the unsharp masking technique and the laplacian technique to reveal details and shapes. This study revealed that some of the infrared images resemble the two-arm spirals as seen by Block et al. 1991. Results from the methods will be presented.
