The effects of a transverse magnetic field and of viscosity dissipation on the free-convection flow of an electrically-conducting incompressible fluid past a uniformly accelerated infinite vertical porous plate (which is alternately cooled or heated) were investigated, using a finite difference method to obtain a numerical solution. The computation was performed for P = 0.71 (air). Results show the evolution of the velocity of the fluid as a function of the distance from the plate, and the factors involved in this effect are discussed.
