The possibility of checking the Einstein effect (consisting of the deflection of planetary light by solar gravitation) by modern astronomical techniques is examined. It is shown that this deflection has such a significant influence on the determination of the coordinates of solar-system objects that it must be taken into account in practical problems of planetary astrometry. It is concluded that the specific features of the Einstein effect manifested in astrometric measurements of planet positions should be checked experimentally using modern techniques such as planetary radar studies.
