In generic dynamical systems of two degrees of freedom one often sees infinite sequences of period doubling pitchfork bifurcations in the characteristics of periodic orbits. The authors found the same phenomenon in a number of families of periodic orbits in the restricted three-body problem. They describe bifurcations of the families c and n (Hénon, 1965) in the case of equal masses of the primaries.
