The process of excitation with the simultaneous emission of radiation of a uniformly accelerated quantum detector is discussed from the inertial-frame point of view. Details of the emitted radiation, such as angular distributions and total emission rates, are given. Some of the apparent paradoxes arising in the interpretation of the process have their counterparts in classical electrodynamics.
