Missing Mass: Models, Missing Mass: General Relativity

Scientific paper

The author explores the possibility of extending general relativity within a hyperspace-time with a multiconnected extra space. This framework provides a geometro-mechanical interpretation of both inertia and gravitation. The mass of a body is identified with its cross-section for interaction with waves due to the extra space multiconnectivity. It is possible to express the gravitational constant G as an integral of the flux of these waves over their frequencies. The authors show how this expression of G is transformed into a function of the distance G(r) when large cosmological structures are considered. The substitution of G by G(r) in Newtonian dynamics could explain the flattening in the rotation velocity curves of many galaxies, without the dark matter hypothesis. A cosmogonical model compatible with observations is also sketched.
