A brief review is given of aircraft, balloon, and rocket data on oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon, and halogen trace constituents at heights up to 100 km. Data on the abundance of these trace constituents are plotted against altitude. The advantages and drawbacks of some measuring methods are examined with particular reference to the infrared limb sounding technique.
