Scientific paper

This paper describes the INTELSAT VI liquid propulsion subsystem and presents the subsystem performance data from the five spacecraft launched in this series of INTELSAT communication satellites. Three of the spacecraft were launched on ARIANE launch vehicles and two on Commercial TITAN launcher. The spacecraft launched on Commercial TITAN vehicle incorporated a solid perigee kick motor. One of the spacecraft launched on a Commercial TITAN launch vehicle failed to achieve its desired orbit due to a malfunction in the launch vehicle. This spacecraft was subsequently reboosted into geostationary orbit following a successful rescue using the NASA space shuttle.
