The electronic spectrum, A 2Pi(i) X 2Sigma(+) transition, of the CS(+) radical ion has been recorded by Fourier Transform Spectroscopy between 14,000 and 5800/cm. Precise molecular constants have been derived for the ground state X 2Sigma(+) in order to aid detection of the CS(+) molecular ion in astrophysical objects. From this new set of molecular constants, the frequencies of some CS(+) lines of astrophysical interest are calculated; they are significantly different from an earlier prediction by Quarta and Singh (1981).
