Bl Lacertae Objects: Variability, Bl Lacertae Objects: Correlation Analysis, Radio Sources: Relativistic Jets

The correlation of the optical and radio intraday variations observed in BLO 0716+714 and its possible interpretations are discussed. A detailed analysis shows that the correlation has three distinct features. The correlations between the optical and radio intraday variations can be understood in the frame of relativistic jets. It is suggested that this phenomenon may possibly be associated with relativistic shocks propagating in the magnetically confined jet with a quasiperiodically oscillating cross section.
