This work has the aim to show the preliminary results of the analysis performed on the spectroscopic data acquired by VNIR (Visible and Near Infrared Spectrometer) image-spectrometer during the November 30 - December 7 1998 observational campaign carried out in "Observatory of the Astrophysical Institute of Andalusia". The importance of this discussion is based on the fact that a similar analysis methodology will be applied on the data acquired by VIMS (Visible and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer) that is now travelling toward Jupiter (arriving date December 2000) and Saturn planets (2004) on board of Cassini spacecraft. The instrument VNIR provides cube-images (i.e. images characterized by one spectral dimension and two spatial one) in the wavelength range (0.4 - 1.0) mu m by coupling a CCD camera with a concave holographic grating mirror. The spatial resolution is 1.2 arcsec, corresponding to about 4.1 x 103 km at Jupiter and 7.4 x 103 km at Saturn. The spectral resolution is 2.5 nm. Imaging spectrometry is particularly useful because it permits to collect at the same time both spatial and spectral information, with the possibility to analyse spectral data to obtain many indications about the spatial distribution of the main components and the vertical structure of the planetary atmosphere.
