Redshifts are estimated for two resolved BL Lacertae objects, using the photometric properties of the host galaxies, assumed to be normal ellipticals. The galaxy apparent magnitude and angular effective radius are derived from an image model fit to the observed image of BL Lac object plus host galaxy. The redshift is then estimated from the absolute magnitude-effective radius relation for normal ellipticals. The redshifts found are 0.17±0.04 for 2254+074 and 0.31±0.08 for 2335+031.
