The STIS coronagraph performance is measured as a function of angle from the star, reaching 1×10-8 per resolution element compared to the total stellar flux at 2 arcsec with optimal PSF subtraction. Highly structured envelopes, disks, jets and planetary clearings have been detected. Estimates of planet detectability with NGST show that Jupiter mass objects around the nearest stars should be detectable.
