A short overview of the results of the SSI (Solid State Imaging) experiment during the Ganymede 1 encounter is given. Unique views of Europa (near-IR color), Ganymede (to 11 m/pixel resolution), Io (in eclipse), and Jupiter (GRS) are shown. The high quality and amount of the returned, compressed, data are briefly described and compared with predictions. Expectations for the rest of the orbital tour are outlined. The imaging data returned after the Ganymede 1 encounter represent less than 10% of the total data that will be ultimately be returned by SSI during the prime mission. Summaries of specific scientific results on the Ganymede, Europa, Io, and Jupiter atmosphere follow in papers by Ingersoll et al. and Carr et al.
