Accurate synthetic light curves are computed by numerical simulation of the accretion disk eclipse, and disk images are reconstructed by maximum entropy methods, in the present surface brightness distribution mapping technique for accretion disks in eclipsing cataclysmic binaries. This mapping method, which is tested against synthetic eclipse data, permits powerful tests of accretion disk theory by deriving the spatial structure of disks from observational data with a minimum of model-dependent assumptions. The modified form of entropy employed, which is sensitive to the azimuthal structure of the image but not its radial profile, suppresses azimuthal structure but recovers the accretion disk's radial structure. Mass transfer rates for eclipsing cataclysmic variables can be measured with an uncertainty of a factor of about 2.
