Using one-dimensional scans of unresolved sources, observed at a wavelength of 2.2 μm, the authors have investigated three image-sharpness criteria and have compared them to instantaneous estimates of the Fried parameter r0 as determined by fitting the low-frequency domain of the power spectra. One of these criteria is strongly correlated with these seeing measurements, allowing to expediently sort the specklegrams according to image quality. In addition, the authors have investigated the "spectral ratio", a seeing-dependent, object-independent parameter used by von der Lühe (1984). They confirm its seeing dependence and also show that it can be used to calibrate visibilities when a resolved object and an unresolved calibrator are observed under different seeing conditions. Finally, the authors show that computing visibilities from seeing-matched bins requires ≈0.25 cm bin widths in r0.
