Image restoration problems frequently involve the solution of Volterra integral equations of the first kind. The regularization method here described yields a stable solution for equations of this type without numerical filtering or arbitrary hypothesis on the analytical expression of the solution. As application we calculate the intensity distribution in the seeing disk according to this method, then we compare the resulting values with the corresponding ones obtained by a fitting procedure once the well known Gaussian behavior of the distribution is taken into account.
