The effect of atmospheric turbulence on the imaging of a pattern similar to an eye chart composed of LED array, for horizontal propagation of the light over a distance of 1000m, was analyzed at visible wavelenghts using a 355.6 mm telescope. Point Spread Function (PSF) and the images were recorded simlutaneously during the night. The Fried's parameter r0 was derived from the measured variance of image motion, leading to r0 values ranging from 5 to 30 cm depending on observing conditions. Very strong image motion and severely degraded images were observed. The relationship between the image resolution and the Fried's parameter is visually shown.
