The interactive image processing system in use at the Geneva Branch of the European Southern Observatory is described. The system, based on a 21-inch graphic display and processing software, provides such products as gray scale displays, contour plots, multiple line scans and bilevel pictures (consisting of only two gray levels, the separation given by a single threshold). Noise removal, filtering techniques and image arithmetic capacities are described. Sample applications, including alignment and differentiation of two images to map the B-V color structure of galaxies, and area integrations for determining the flux of extended bodies, are also presented.
