Solar Activity, Sunspots, Solar Photosphere

The paper reports the work carried out by the UAI Solar Section during the year 2000. The results indicate that the maximum solar activity of the XXIII 11-year cycle occurred on February and March based on the evaluation of the spot area. The maximum Wolf Number occurred in July. This latter result agrees fairly with the data collected by AAVSO and CIDC (Bruxelles). The photospheric coordinates obtained agree with the Active Regions values reported by NOAA which have been used for comparison.
