Primitive meteorites contain small amounts of preserved presolar material in the form of carbonaceous grains. The best known of these are diamond, graphite, and silicon carbide. Each type of grain carries a conspicuous, isotopically anomalous noble gas component which played a crucial role in its discovery and identification. These noble gas signatures record nucleosynthetic processes in a variety of stellar environments. The rapidly expanding body of isotopic data on these presolar grains enables models of nucleosynthetic processes and dynamics in stellar interiors to be tested and improved.
