Recent modeling and data analysis demonstrate that enhanced solar wind dynamic pressure and IMF conditions cause dramatic disturbances on the Martian ionosphere and atmosphere, as well as in the planetary particle escape fluxes. In this work, we apply a 3-D multi-species MHD model to study in some detail the interaction between Mars and simplified ICME-perturbed upstream solar wind conditions. We will discuss the changes in the global interaction structure with time during the ICME passage. The ICME impact on atmospheric loss and the characteristic relaxation time for the interaction process will also be discussed.
