Bulk motions in the intracluster gas, if present, may significantly bias the standard determinations of gas masses, baryon fractions and energetics of galaxy clusters. Direct evidence for ICM velocity gradients has recently been found for the first time, for at least two clusters: A426 and A3526. This discovery triggered a more systematic search for velocity measurements in other ASCA clusters, with sufficient conditions for detection of gas velocities. Here we present results for the search and characterization of velocity structures in a larger ASCA sample. The sample analyzed encompasses relatively nearby clusters (most with z<0.1) with very different physical and morphological characteristics.
