Landforms suggestive of periglacial processes are commonplace in
mid-Utopia Planitia, Mars. They form syngenetically in ground-ice
comprised of loess transported by katabatic wind from the NPLDs and
enriched by ice through the thaw-freeze cycling of obliquity-driven
precipitation.
