A 37-aperture hypertelescope, equipped with a coronagraph, can image
Earth-type planets at visible and IR wavelengths. The principle provides
a theoretical contrast improvement with respect to nulling systems using
a beamsplitter. Second generation versions with 150 km baselines can in
principle resolve "green spots" of life on an Earth at 3 parsecs.
