A problem about configuration of a body with maximum lift-to-drag ratio at high supersonic speed is considered. Pressure on the body surface is determined using local dependencies -the Newton formula or formulas for a local wedge. Friction coefficients over the body surface along with base pressure coefficient are assumed to be constant. The problem solution is found using a direct variational method of local variations, its convergence is analyzed by comparison with analytical solutions. Calculations have shown that the body upper surface does not practically produce normal force, which is induced by convex lower surface. If the body volume is small, forebody has zero thickness.
