The intensity distribution of the hydrogen quadrupole line S(1) at 6367.76 A over the disk of Jupiter and the intensity distribution of the lines S(0) at 6435.03 A and S(1) at 6367.76 A over the disk of Saturn, all lines belonging to the H2 band (4-0), have been measured. Using the framework of the two-layer atmosphere model the hydrogen content in the above-cloud atmosphere of the planets is determined. For Jupiter this quantity proves to be 7.6-9.6 km-amagat, and for Saturn, 11-17 km-amagat. The rotational temperatures of various regions of Saturn's disk lying along the intensity equator are evaluated (99-115 K).
