Recent ground-based, wide-field surveys of resolved stellar populations in M31 and M33 have proven to be essential tools for improving our understanding of the formation and evolution of spiral galaxies. To place the most statistically significant constraints on theoretical galaxy formation models, we must increase the number of such systems whose stars have been mapped over large portions of their outer disks and halos. This means going beyond the Local Group, a task which has only recently become possible thanks to the advent of wide-field imagers on large telescopes. To that end, we present deep imaging in the V and I bands of M81 and NGC 2403 obtained with Suprime-Cam on the 8-m Subaru telescope. The color-magnitude diagrams reach over 1 magnitude below the red giant branch tip, allowing us to explore and compare the large-scale stellar structure and composition of these galaxies beyond their bright optical disks. Such an analysis will help address questions like, do all spiral galaxies have thick-disks and/or halos and how do their properties depend on galaxy mass?
