Comet 103P/Hartley 2 is a small but highly active comet that will passunusually close to the Earth {0.12 AU} during the fall of 2010, when itwill also be visited by NASA's DIXI spacecraft. We propose a 15-orbitspectroscopic observing campaign with Hubble, comprised of three 5-orbitvisits spanning a 2-month period, to measure the abundances of severalkey volatiles {CO, CO2, S2} and their possible seasonal variations. COhas not yet been detected in 103P, and Hubble may be the only facilitycapable of doing it. Hubble is also uniquely capable of providingconfirmation of DIXI's measurements of the CO2 abundance. The DIXI flybyis an exceptional opportunity to study the nature of comets, and Hubblewill contribute important and unique data to the international campaignsupporting this mission.;
