Following the discovery and rapid classification of SN 2011iv (CBET 2940) as a young, nearby (D ~ 18 Mpc), minimally reddened Type Ia supernova, we triggered STIS UV observations with the Hubble Space Telescope under the Cycle 19 program "Understanding the Progenitor Systems, Explosion Mechanisms, and Cosmological Utility of Type Ia Supernovae" (PI Foley). The first epoch of HST UV spectroscopy will occur on 11 December 2011 at about 03:00 UT.
