We will obtain NICMOS {NIC3 F160W} images of a galaxy at z=5.34, the only spectroscopically confirmed object at z>5. Our goals are to determine the continuum morphology, map the spatial extent of the line-emitting region, and place joint constraints on the age of the stellar population and dust extinction in the galaxy. If this galaxy is a truly primeval object in the process of forming its first generation of stars, its morphological properties can provide critical constraints on galaxy formation models. The near-IR and optical observations proposed here cannot be accomplished from ground-based facilities, and their success depends upon the high spatial resolution and low sky backgrounds only attainable with HST.
