Many more automatic fireball patrol stations are needed in western Europe. At present, seven stations operate in the Netherlands, but technical problems which occur when a camera is being rebuilt into a properly functioning automatic all-sky unit prevent many people from taking part in patrol activities. This paper is intended to show how to automate a simple all-sky camera and so encourage people to participate in the fireball patrol network; a very important and interesting field of meteor research.
