We show that one encounters a plateau in cosmological information in the matter power spectrum on scales just smaller than linear. This may be explained with cosmic variance in the population of large haloes, which dominate the power spectrum in this translinear regime. Surprisingly, there is additional information on even smaller scales, but it seems to be quite degenerate among cosmological parameters. We also discuss possible ways to get around the translinear information plateau.
