Solar Telescopes: Solar Spectrum

Describes the big horizontal solar telescope installed by the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine at its Terskol High-Altitude Station in the Caucasus near Elbrus. The telescope with a primary mirror of 65 cm in diameter and a focal length of 17.75 m is completed with a five-camera spectrograph for photographic spectral observations of active regions in the solar atmosphere and photoelectric measurements of the solar spectrum with high spectral and spatial resolution. Some results of investigations of the spectrum quality are presented together with the results of first measurements.
