A radio astronomical method is developed and used to study the ionospheric irregularities at 38 MHz. The different stages of design, development and fabrication of the experimental system were undertaken and the results obtained concerning the horizontal movements of the irregularities are reported here. Irregularities in the 10-20 minutes period range show a maxima and are more frequent in winter than in summer. It is also found that the irregularities with periods between 25-40 minutes have velocities between 40-140 meters per second in the E-W directions. The cut off at 12-13 minutes of the observed irregularities corresponds to the internal gravity waves.
