The investigation of features of two large solar flares of 1981, 13 and 16 May shows that their importance, localization, and shape are similar, but they differ one from the other by their duration. However, the identity of X-ray bursts associated with these flares shows that these flares developed in the solar corona in a common way, and the difference of their duration was observed only at the chromospheric level of the active region. One of the two main knots of the flares was localized above an isolated N-pole embedded into a magnetic field of S-polarity.
