The Newtonian homogeneous and isotropic cosmological model as described by a polytropic state equation is used to construct the kinetic potentials that appear on the generalized Clebsch representation for the velocity field of a perfect fluid. The generalized Clebsch potential and the connections between the kinetic potentials and the thermodynamic functions of the fluid are reconsidered. The kinetic potentials are expressed as functions of the model scale factor and the energy constant. The expressions found for the kinetic potentials are used to compute the constants of motion with respect to the HS group in the homogeneous and isotropic case.
