The radar of Venera 15 and 16 detected a large number of small circular or irregular formations which appeared to be flowlike and of volcanic origin. The question is examined of whether the distribution of these features is random (homogeneous) or exhibits some distribution trend. The map of Venus displaying these features was divided into trapezoids 30 degs of longitude and 10 degs of latitude in size. Two methods were used to determine the distribution features, with subsequent statistical analysis of the numerical data. The first method compared the total area of the features to the area of the trapezoid; the second determined the number of features per trapezoid. Both methods yielded identical results, and the second was easier to implement. It was found that the distribution of volcanic flows was not random in the examined region of Venus. This inhomogeneity may be due to clustering. It is possible that the volcanic flows are concentrated in the northern latitudes at 210 to 300 degs of longitude. However, this material is insufficient to confidently determine the distribution of these features with morphological and geological features.
