Deep observations from the Probing Acceleration Now with Supernovae (PANS) project and the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey (GOODS) have allowed for the discovery of > 80 supernovae to z > 1.6. A complete study of 42 of these high redshift supernovae reveals the time evolution of supernova event rates and their relation to the cosmic star formation rate history. The data have shown an evolution in the core-collapse supernova rate which is consistent with the star formation rate history determined from rest-frame U-band galaxy studies. The data also show an evolution in the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) rate which suggests a large delay ( ˜ 4 Gyr) from star formation to explosion for SN Ia progenitors, seemingly indicating these events stem from single-degenerate systems with low-mass companion stars.
